Presenter: Jessica Thompson, coauthor of Ambitious Science Teaching. (Read About Jessica

This 1-day professional learning will support K-12 teachers and teacher leaders in developing critical and culturally responsive approaches to Ambitious Science Teaching with attention to four principles:
1) Recognizing our own and other’s worlds and developing critical consciousness.
2) Learning and prioritizing students’ communities and cultures.
3) Designing for each student’s full participation in the culture of science.

4) Challenging the culture of science through social and restorative justice.

We will audit the curriculum, discuss practices that can be used at the beginning of the school year, and create a vision for the school year.
