About Our Conference
An Introduction
The 115th STANYS Annual Conference will be held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center November 6 to 9, 2010. We continue building on the success of highly rated past programs while initiating new activities. Your desire to learn and be informed is paramount in choosing workshops, fieldtrips, and invited speakers to fill the program. We hope to enhance your participation by taking advantage of the resources Rochester has to offer by way of its scientific institutions and regional natural history. The conference opens with a field trip and a night at a museum. The initial day is followed by the traditional two-and-a-half days featuring workshops, special events, and an exhibition hall. The conference is an exceptional professional development opportunity and we hope you can attend!
Conference Program
A program brochure is mailed in late summer to most science teachers in New York State. It contains general conference information, hotel information, registration forms, plus the complete schedule of workshops, presentations, exhibitions, and events. The contents of the Conference Brochure may be accessed from the Conference Program page.
Why you should attend the STANYS Conference
The STANYS conference workshops and special events inform and engage you in worthwhile learning experiences. The focus is on your professional growth through the sharing of knowledge, modeling skills, expanding your horizons, and providing you with resources.
The New York State Department of Education encourages teachers to participate in the STANYS Conference. Participating teachers return to their districts with ideas and materials that strengthen their local science programs, supporting the mutual effort of NYSED and STANYS to raise standards and achievements in science, math, and technology.
Presenting Workshops at the Conference
Do you have ideas and knowledge to share with your colleagues across the state? We invite you to participate in the conference as a presenter. To be considered, please submit an online workshop proposal between February and early May. The Proposal Submissions page has the guidelines for this process.
